A Response to 'Women Against Feminism.'

Not loving how this white feminist uses women of color, who happen to also be in countries deeply impoverished and damaged by the legacy of white supremacist colonialism as props in her argument (directed toward and written with white women in mind) that feminism is still a thing.

Insinuations or outright assertions that communities of color are obviously more deficient - more primitive, is that what you meant? - in terms of social justice. Fucking tired ass racist cliche.

trans men are inherently violent

We could also say “trans women are inherently violent”, but the moment anyone said that, you’d be offended. If it’s terrible to say in one direction, it’s terrible to say in the other direction, too.

the…

that’s right soldier, you tell ‘em. protesting transphobia is for penises only. vaginas, don’t talk when the penises are talking. ever.

So: You’re using biological determinism as an argument that trans dudes get special vagina-having feminist cred, which overrides trans women’s voices; to deny that patriarchy grants us male privilege (conditional as it may be), which is in fact experienced as violence toward women, by women. They’re not just making this shit up. Like i said, this is pretty basic feminism.

Also. You keep using the word “transphobia” like that’s gonna change “freaking out over trans men getting called on this shit by trans women” into some kind of acceptable response.

Men don’t get to decide what is misogynistic

Straight people don’t get to decide what is homophobic

Cis people don’t get to decide what is transphobic

White people don’t get to decide what is racist

People in positions of power don’t get to decide what is considered oppression

That’s how we move backwards, not forwards

the difference is that trans men actually are inherently violent. glad i could clear this up for you.

I don’t think words can adequately express how fucking embarrassing it is when basic-ass trans bros get their basic-ass feathers ruffled and feel like they’re saying anything new or valuable when they say, essentially, to women “Not all men. Besides you’re sexist too for saying that.”

Like, here, I’ll spell out. Basic rules for basic bros:

In summary: Shut the fuck up. This is basic feminism: don’t try to bro-shout over women speaking truths.

Do You Love Someone With Depression?

If you have a partner or are close to someone who struggles with depression, you may not always know how to show them you love them. One day they may seem fine, and the next they are sad, distant and may push you away….

The most important piece of all got left off this list and I’m just going to say it. If you love someone with depression, you need to remember that you are not actually responsible for managing their emotions. This is a list of nice things to do for those loved ones who struggle with depression, but it’s not actually cool to take yourself, and your own mental and emotional health, for granted.

By all means, love them. Do nice things for them because you love them. Not because you need to or else they’ll spiral into the darkness (and it will be all your fault). Set boundaries when - not if - you need them. Constantly saving someone from one depressive crisis after another is too much responsibility and that’s why there are trained mental health professionals out there getting paid to help people with depression.
